Following Site Launch

II. What to do Following Site Launch

Generating Website Traffic

Many people do not start looking at the items we are going to discuss below until after their website is built. While it is not ideal, it is OK. Stop pulling out your hair. The good news is you have a website to work with. This article will discuss how to get your website indexed in the search engines, generate traffic to your website, create website partnerships, and optimize your website properly for the search engines. All of these tips are meant to help you increase the probability that your website will generate a return on investment and help you grow your business.

Following Site Launch Tip #2: Submit Your Website to the Search Engines

Submitting your search engines is one of the easiest things to do to expedite the indexing of your search engines. Below I have included links for you to do so.

Submit your url to Google: http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl
Submit your url to Yahoo: http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit
Submit your url to Bing: http://www.bing.com/webmaster/SubmitSitePage.aspx

Following Site Launch Tip #2: Create Website Partnerships

Just like in traditional business, forming partnerships with other companies can mean increases in business for your company (or site). The best thing to do is to find a company that offers products or services in your same vertical but which are not substitutes for your products or services. This would be like a roofer forming a partnership with an insulation company. You can have informal partnerships but I highly recommend rewarding every successful referral with a cash reward. This way you prevent any animosity if one company is sending more business to one than the other.

Following Site Launch Tip #3:Website Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization is a learned professional skill. Without spending time studying SEO on a regular basis, it is unlikely that you will be able to personally achieve impressive results for your website. However, what you can do is prepare your company for success by suggesting the following five things to your website designer.
1. Tell them that you want your website to have proper Title tags and you want to approve them before the design is complete.
2. Tell them that you want your website to have H1, H2, H3, and H4 tags on each page (again, you want to approve them first).
3. Tell them that you want each page to have a meta tag.
4. Tell them that you want each page to have meta tag keywords.
5. Tell them that you want to have a meta tag description for each page.

However, prior to getting all excited throwing out html lingo, make sure that you do your research. What keywords would your company benefit from high on?? If you don’t know, it is likely cheaper for you to hire someone to do all of this.
